WHAT WORKS: A Post Elections Report-back
NOTE: WHAT WORKS has now concluded. Please stay tuned for audio archival files of the proceedings.
We’re excited to invite you to WHAT WORKS, the Mitchell Kapor Foundation’s convening of our Project 2008 grantees to promote idea-sharing, networking and movement-building. WHAT WORKS will take place in San Francisco on Monday, January 26 and Tuesday, January 27, 2009. Each grantee organization will send one representative (a "sponsored participant") to discuss strategies that increased voter engagement or the integrity of the elections process. We have also invited Bay Area civic engagement organizations and funders so that the sharing and networking can extend beyond the Foundation’s portfolio.
PRESENTATIONS
Each organization has a five-minute allotment as part of a panel presentation to highlight the accomplishments and challenges of the strategies that increased voter engagement or the integrity of the elections process. At the start of each panel session, we will distribute a compilation of presentation notes so that attendees can follow along. Presentation summaries are due by TUESDAY, JANUARY 20th, so if you are presenting on behalf of your organization, please click HERE for more information.
After all of the panelists have presented, the moderator will ask a few questions and then take a limited few questions from the audience.
A list and description of current grantees’ work is posted on our website: www.mkf.org/votingaccess/current-grants.html.

AIRFARE REIMBURSEMENT
The Foundation will reimburse sponsored participants for coach airfare (up to $600) to and from the San Francisco Bay Area (SFO, OAK, SJC). Travelers are encouraged to purchase air travel carbon offsets (NativeEnergy.com, TerraPass.com, etc.) which are also reimbursable.
Sponsored participants can download and complete the Airfare Reimbursement Form to submit with receipts either in person at the convening or by mail. Reimbursement checks will be distributed between January 27th and February 27th.
Please note that we are not reimbursing participants for ground transfers, meals, and other related expenses.
Cancellations
In the off chance that you are unable to attend WHAT WORKS, please make every effort to designate and send a representative from your organization. The Foundation cannot reimburse organizations for cancelled air travel. Please contact Foundation staff to discuss any special circumstances.
