Green Access
As addressing the global climate crisis requires unprecedented changes in the way we live, the Mitchell Kapor Foundation seeks greater inclusion of economically-marginalized communities in the solutions that will help us to reduce our ecological impact on the planet.
We’re interested in work which addresses the following:
- Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability – Educating and mobilizing low and moderate income communities on environmentally-sustainable lifestyle practices.
- Green Jobs – Developing strategies and practices to include low and moderate income people in the emerging green economy.
- Justice and Climate Change – Representing and protecting the interests and perspectives of low-income communities of color in policy-making discussions on climate change, ensuring that solutions are equitable.
Organizations applying for Green Access grants must be located in or have projects that serve residents in one of the counties of the San Francisco Bay Area: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Sonoma or Solano. National organizations with a Bay Area chapter meet these criteria.
